China's Heilongjiang to invest US$0.39 billion on pig breeding

 

 

The Heilongjiang province of China will invest more than RMB2.5 billion (US$0.39 billion) in putting up a pig breeding industrial project with a capacity of one million tonnes, declared the China Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Bureau of Heilongjiang Province.

 

The project will start construction at the beginning of this month and the annual output value will hit RMB6.058 billion (US$0.95 billion) upon full operation of the project. Its main tasks are to build 10 commercial pig breeding bases with annual pig output being 100,000 as well as supporting biogas work.

 

Located in Xiji Town of Bayan County, the project focuses on commercial pig breeding bases and assorted processing industries. Once completed, the project will build one boar breeding base, one feed processing base with annual output being 300,000 tonnes, and one base being able to slaughter 1.5 million pigs and conducting meat deep processing. In addition, the project will build agro-pastoral training centre, disease prevention and control centre, information management centre and cold chain distribution centre.
