Sahara India to launch world's largest dairy in 2013

As it has decided to set foot in the dairy industry, the world's largest dairy will be launched on April 1, 2013 by Sahara India Pariwar which would produce five million tonnes of milk in a year, Subrata Roy, Managing Director and Chairman, has stated.

Roy informed that his company would procure 9, 000 acres of land near Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh as also in Madhya Pradesh to offer pure milk to consumers. According to Roy, Sahara India Pariwar will not be investing in infrastructure business in West Bengal on account of the political problems in the state.

"We faced a lot of legal hurdles in acquiring 175 acres of land in Kolkata", stated Roy, adding that they would be starting projects in Siliguri and Kharagpur very soon.

Roy also noted that there were big problems faced by the Sahara Group in building townships during the BSP regime in Uttar Pradesh. Sahara group possesses the biggest land bank in India and its hopes to develop three to four companies. It also plans to launch projects near Dwarka in Delhi and in Greater Noida and Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh.
