Court orders JBS beef facility closure on COVID-19 outbreak

A Brazilian court has ordered JBS SA to close the production line of a beef facility in Rondônia state pending implementation of measures to curb the spread of the new coronavirus, which employs 900 people, Reuters reported.

State labour prosecutors have sought to keep the plant closed until strict testing protocols are in place. The prosecutors also added that more than 60% of the people infected in the town of São Miguel do Guaporé, where the plant is located, are employed by JBS.
