Brazilian chicken exports soar in January-May
Brazilian chicken exports saw an increase of 32.2 percent in January-May this year over the same period last year to hit US$1.22 billion.
According to the Brazilian Chicken Exporters and Producers Association (Abef), export volume for the period rose 27 percent year on year to hit 1.1 million tonnes.
The revenue gains were mainly due to the rise in the average price of each export tonne, Abef said.
The sector should see a sales revenue growth of 5-10 percent for 2005 over last year. In 2004, sales hit US$2.6 billion, with a volume of 2.46 million tonnes.
