China Methionine: Market weakens on soft demand (week ended Jun 8, 2020)

Weak sales of methionine, resulting from poor demand for poultry feeds, exerted pressure on the market. Several traders slashed prices in a bid to clear stocks despite paltry returns.
Export prices of dl-methionine slid to US$2.85/kg.
Feed producers will continue to limit the purchases of methionine with the outlook of China's economy and the broiler sector staying grim. Methionine market will remain under pressure as the capacity of the industry has increased, hence resulting stronger competition.
