China's soy imports continue to rise despite slip in May

 

 

According to data from China Customs General Administration, China imported 5.97 million tonnes of soy in May, a drop of 530,000 tonnes, or 8%, compared to April, but an increase of 870,000 tonnes, or 17% on-year.

 

Data also shows that from January to May this year, China imported a total of 27.82 million tonnes of soy, a surge of 35% compared to the same period of last year.

 

China also imported 580,000 tonnes of vegetable oil in May, a rise of 40,000 tonnes compared to April.
