French poultry processor LDC reports profits for 2007

French poultry group LDC has reported higher annual profits in 2007 despite rising commodity costs.

Operating profit rose 22.3 percent to EUR 73.8 million (US$116.5 million) as earnings and sales increase both locally and abroad.

Operating profit in France grew nearly 8 percent to EUR 60.6 million (US$96 million) while sales rose 13.6 percent to EUR 1.3 billion (US$2 billion) despite soaring commodity costs and lower demand during the second half of 2007, according to LDC.

LDC's overseas business' operating profit reached EUR 6.6 million (US$10.4 million) compared to a EUR 1 million (US$1.6 million) loss in 2006. The profit was attributed to a 25-percent increase in revenue.

LDC's turnover also climbed 16.2 percent to EUR 1.8 billion (US$2.8 billion).
