Poland's Mlekpol Bid To Gain Market Share In European Dairy Market
Mlekpol, the biggest dairy company in Poland, plans to spend zł.50 million on investments in 2004 and increase the value of its sales by zł.400 million.
The company is rapidly increasing its purchases and processing of milk, which will account for 10% of domestic milk sales this year. The main factor contributing to the growth of sales are exports. Edmund Borawski, the president of Mlekpol, revealed that exports may double in terms of value and reach 50% to account for 50% of the company's overall sales. Borawski added that after May 1, Mlekpol recorded increased interest in its products in Italy, Germany and Greece. He stated that his company plans to obtain EU export subsidies, "We also hope to produce supermarkets own labels," Borawski concluded.
