US and Canadian pork and poultry biosecurity firms merge

Canadian-based Farm Health Guardian and US-based NoveTechnologies (NoveTech) have merged to introduce new farm biosecurity technology to pork and poultry producers in North America, Farms.com reported.

The merger has led to the launch of Protocol, a cutting-edge biosecurity management system that leverages facial recognition technology to regulate access to livestock barns. By combining their expertise, the two industry-leading biosecurity innovators aim to provide a comprehensive range of digital biosecurity technologies, empowering farmers and food companies to enhance biosecurity measures and safeguard animal health.

Rob Hannam, chief executive officer for the unified Farm Health Guardian, said that the merger means they are able to offer a more complete product line of digital biosecurity technologies to help farmers and food companies improve biosecurity and protect animal health.

The merger will also introduce Protocol to the US and Canadian markets for controlled access in pork and poultry barns through the implementation of a facial recognition barn entry system. This innovative technology promises to streamline controlled entry and set new standards for biosecurity practices.

Anthony Novero, now chief technology officer for Farm Health Guardian, said the combined expertise of the companies enables them to deliver an advanced disease prevention system that meets the demands of modern producers, who want assurances that any person or truck entering their farm or barns is disease-free.

Protocol, the newly launched controlled entry biosecurity system, grants farmers and integrators full control over access to their farm production sites. By utilizsng facial recognition technology, the system empowers farm managers to proactively regulate entry points, effectively minimising the risk of diseases entering the barns.

Farm Health Protect, an existing offering from Farm Health Guardian, is already accessible to farmers in Canada and the US. This farm biosecurity management system confidentially records truck movements onto and off farm properties, facilitating the monitoring of protocols and the identification of biosecurity breaches.
