European pork exports fall 28.7% in Q1 2022


 

European pork exports totaled 1,142,712 tonnes in the first quarter of 2022, a decrease of 28.7%, compared to the same period last year.

 

Between January and March, 353,294 tonnes of pork were exported to China, 63.1% less than in the same period of the previous year.

 

In contrast, exports to Japan, the Philippines and South Korea, which represent 10.8%, 10.4%, and 9% of total exports, increased by 58.6%, 23.8% and 96%, respectively.

 

This data does not take into account EU exports to the United Kingdom, which, in January and February, received more than 130,000 tonnes of EU pork, making it the second-largest destination for European pork, with 15.2% of the total.
