Kazakhstan completes almost 96% of grain sowing

 

 

Kazakhstan's farmers sowed spring grain crops over the areas of 14,857,500 hectares, or 95.9% of the plan, as of June 1, 2012, the press-service of the Ministry of Agriculture stated.

 

According to the Ministry, in particular, agrarians planted corn throughout 90.1 thsd hectares (87%), rice - 91.4 thsd hectares (102.7%), oilseeds - 1800.9 thsd hectares (98.7%).

 

As a reminder, according to the departments of agriculture of Kazakh oblasts, in the current year agrarians plan to place agricultural crops throughout the areas of 21.5 million hectares, up 0.3 million hectares, or 1.3% compared to 2011. The spring crops planted areas are forecasted at the level of 18.8 million hectares.
