KFC Australia to use rapeseed oil

In cooking their food nationwide, KFC Australia has announced the franchise will be introducing home-grown rapeseed oil, according to Australian farmers.

With more than 600 KFC stores across Australia, this is a huge investment into the local Australian farming industry. KFC will be switching to high oleic rapeseed oil, trialled and developed to keep the fast food outlet's iconic taste.

A total of 250 of Australia's 10,000 rapeseed farmers have been involved in the change, requiring thousands of tonnes of extra oil to roll out the switch to rapeseed oil nationwide.

In the past two years, KFC has been working with reputable suppliers for the switch to high oleic rapeseed oil, which has helped drive record plantings for the year.

The NSW Department of Primary Industries said it expected record rapeseed plantings, at 39% more than last year.
