Russia's April pork, poultry production up; beef down
 

 

Russia registered on-year increases of 37.3% and 18.9% in the country's pork and poultry output in April, respectively, while its beef production slipped 3.5% compared with the same period last year.

 

About 63,300 tonnes of pork were produced in April, according to the federal statistics agency, adding that pork output in January-April was 32.4% more  than last year levels.

 

The country produced 231,000 tonnes of poultry and poultry sub-products in April, and output in January-April was 19% more than in January-April 2009, but the amount in tonnes was not specified.

 

April's beef production totalled 14,800 tonnes, while output in January-April this year dropped 1.1% on-year, according to the agency.
