Ukraine's grain exports up by 35.8 percent to 1 million tonnes in April

 

 

Grain exports by Ukraine increased by 35.8 percent or 264,040 tonnes worth US$177.38 million in April this year compared to 1,002,540 tonnes in the same period last year, figures from the State Statistics Committee show.

 

In April, Ukrainian traders have shipped mainly barley, 713,440 tonnes or 71.2 percent of the total grain exports volume, and corn - 187,780 tonnes or 18.7 percent of the grains' total exports.

 

Grain exports in April rose by 11.3 percent or 101,680 tonnes compared to March 2007 as it fell by 19.7 percent or 221,400 tonnes. 

 

In January-April, grain exports fell by 39 percent or 1,433,770 tonnes, compared to January-April 2006, to 2,246,320 tonnes for US$401.52 million.

 

In 2006, grain export fell by 11.8 percent or 1,477,000 tonnes compared to 2005, to 11,024,610 tonnes for US$ 1,354.25 million.
