Perdue Foods recalls chicken food products
Perdue Foods, in cooperation with USDA, has voluntarily recalled 31,703 pounds of chicken-based food products, the company announced last week.
The affected products include refrigerated, fully cooked gluten-free breaded organic chicken tenders, whole grain breaded organic chicken breast strips and whole grain breaded organic chicken breast nuggets under the PERDUE® SIMPLY SMART® Organics brand. The recall was conducted due to a likelihood that the products may contain pieces of bone.
According to Perdue, all of the SIMPLY SMART® items are no longer in stores and are past their use-by date of May 20, 2019.
Also included in the recall are frozen, fully cooked breaded chicken tenders and fully cooked whole grain chicken strips under the CHEF QUIK® brand for foodservice only.
"We are committed to producing the highest quality products, therefore, out of an abundance of caution, we have decided to recall all affected products that were produced during the same production run," said Jeff Shaw, Perdue's vice president of food safety and quality.
