DSM Nutritional Products organised seminar on feed enzymes in Bangladesh

DSM Nutritional Products hosted an enzyme seminar, aimed at key stakeholders in the poultry and aquaculture industries, on May 20 in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Dr. Vijay Makhija, regional marketing and communication manager (ANH, APAC) highlighted DSM's broad portfolio of vitamins, carotenoids, eubiotics, minerals and feed enzymes.
DSM, with its strong research and development capabilities combined with its knowledgeable team of product and species experts, is well positioned to offer solutions for poultry, aquaculture producers and other species.
The company also provides the highest quality ingredients and additives for animal feed that produces healthier animals for better meat and eggs.
DSM's innovative feed additives have been developed to help farmers meet the challenges they face. The cutting-edge products deliver a wide range of benefits: they can help increase production and productivity, improve welfare, reduce environmental impact, and enhance product quality.
Furthermore, feed costs can be reduced by adding enzymes which increase digestibility. As a result, birds can obtain more nutritional value from the same amount of feed.
RONOZYME® ProAct is a protease, developed to increase protein digestibility.
The NSP enzyme blend RONOZYME® VAX, improves energy utilisation from various plant-based ingredients, while the phytase, RONOZYME® HiPhos, increases the availability of plant phosphorus, thereby reducing the need for expensive phosphorus supplementation.
Used either alone or in customised combinations, RONOZYME® enzymes complement the action of naturally occurring digestive enzymes to boost nutrient digestibility and feed efficiency.
Dr. Kostas Stamatopoulos, regional technical manager for enzymes (ANH, APAC) gave an insightful presentation entitled, "Optimizing dietary protein digestibility with feed enzymes". He shared that, in reality, about 20% of the protein within feed ingredients is not usually utilised by poultry and aquatic species.
RONOZYME® ProAct is a unique and pure mono-component protease, which maximises protein utilisation and improves nutritional value of feed.
When RONOZYME® ProAct is supplemented into an animal diet, it offers the following advantages and benefits including: complementing protein hydrolysis performed by endogenous digestive enzymes; targeting a broad range of feed protein sources; maintaining gut health and decreasing endogenous enzyme loss; reducing feed costs and improving broiler profitability; supporting profitable use of low protein diets which benefits both litter and carcass quality, the environment and animal welfare; and controling soybean and other oil seed anti-nutritional factors.
Dr. Stamatopoulos also presented a talk on "Phytate free nutrition (PFN) and phytase intelligent dosing.
Noting that Phytic acid was a potent anti-nutrient, he stated that it interacts with cations and basic amino-acids, hence reducing solubility and increasing endogenous loss.
The Phytate Free Nutrition (PFN) concept is moving beyond phosphorus release, aiming for the complete degradation of dietary phytic acid and its anti-nutritional effects. Dietary phytate will determine both the matrix value and dosing selection in the Phytase Intelligent Dosing DSM concept.
During his presentation, Dr. David Zhu, regional technical manager for enzymes (ANH, APAC) shared that using RONOYZME® VAX can improve the starch digestibility, as the endogenous amylase is not sufficient for fast growing broilers.
The xylanase present in RONOYZME® VAX can break down both soluble and insoluble arabinoxylans very efficiently.
RONOYZME® VAX contains multiple enzyme activities, which are in sync and work collectively to breakdown the plant cell wall to avoid the problematic "cage effect".
It is well proven that using RONOYZME® VAX in poultry diets will benefit feed-mills, farms and the environment.
Rafiqul Hoque, CEO of Poultry Consultant and Development Services (PCDS) addressed the participants and shared his thoughts on usefulness of the seminar. He appreciated the scientific knowledge shared by DSM technical team on the role of feed enzymes in increasing profitability of producers.
The seminar was concluded by Ruhul Amin Sarker, technical manager of DSM Bangladesh.
Sarker thanked participants for their time and encouraged them to consider the usage of matrix calculators and leverage services provided by DSM technical experts.
