AHDB Pork releases 2 new publications on pig industry

 

AHDB Pork announced Wednesday that it is coming out with two new publications this month, both providing valuable information about the pig industry.

"The 2017 Pig and Poultry Pocketbook" covers the whole supply chain, from farm to fork, including statistics on the structure of the industry, prices, production levels, carcase classification, and retail sales and consumption. This the fifth edition of this popular publication and has just been released.

The "AHDB Pork Yearbook", on the other hand, is due to be released later this month. It details the work being carried out in knowledge exchange, research, development and innovation by the UK Agriculture & Horticulture Development Board. This covers research projects, field trials, skills and training, and the industry in figures.

The yearbook also includes everything from technical performance trends and cost of production data, to carcase weights and average back fat measurements.

"Understanding the current state of the industry and its competitors can help producers make the best possible business decisions and therefore aid in improving returns", the pork division of AHDB said of the publications' importance in providing invaluable information and important contribution to support the sector.
