19th case of mad cow disease suspected in Japan

A cow in northern Japan is suspected of being the country's 19th case of mad cow disease, after 18 previous animals have been found infected with the fatal illness since 2001.

All slaughtered cattle in Japan are checked for mad cow disease before they are allowed to enter the food supply.
