Kazakhstan's current total grain exports reach almost 11 million tonnes

As of May 24, Kazakhstan had exported about 10.6 million tonnes of grain, including flour in grain equivalent, since the start of agricultural year on July 1, 2011, the Kazakh Agriculture Ministry's press service said.

The country shipped more than a million tonnes of grain monthly from September to this month.

"For the realisation of export potential - 15 million tonnes - another 4.4 million tonnes of grain remains to be shipped," the statement says.

Kazakhstan's grain harvest in 2011 was a record-breaker - 26.9 million tonnes after processing, or 120% more than the year before. The Agriculture Ministry plans to increase grain exports this agri-year by 150% to 15 million tonnes.

Exports of grain and flour in grain equivalent in the 2010-2011 agri-year weighed in at 5.9 million tonnes.
