Brazil's pigs slaughter increases 4.9% in Q1 2021

Brazil's pigs slaughter reached 12.53 million heads in the first quarter of 2021, representing a growth of 4.9% compared to the same period last year.

The number also represented a 0.2% increase compared to the fourth quarter of 2020.

Based on data published by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), the total carcass weight was recorded at 1.15 million tonnes, a 7.2% increase compared to the first quarter of 2020 and up 2.5% compared to the previous quarter.
