Russia's grain harvest may reach nearly 100 million tonnes in 2013

Russia's general grain harvest will likely reach 97.2 million-100 million tonnes this year.

This is according to the forecast of Igor Pavensky, head of the analysis sector of strategic marketing department of CJSC "Rusagrotrans", on May 29.

According to the expert, increasing of the forecast was caused by growing of the planted areas under grains in the Southern, North-Caucasian and Central Federal Districts of Russia (compared with the previous year).

The expected increase of the general production allows improving the forecast of Russian grain exports from the level of 22-23 million tonnes to 23-25 million tonnes, said I.Pavensky.

In particular, it is expected that in 2013-14 marketing year Russia will export nearly 17-18 million tonnes of wheat, 3-3.5 million tonnes of barley, and 2.5-2.7 million tonnes of corn.
