Ukraine meat output up 25.5 percent
Ukraine's meat output in live weight grew 25.5 percent on the month and 3.7 percent on-year to 258,700 tonnes in April, according to the State Statistics Committee.
Local family farms increased meat output by 53.6 percent on the month to 51,300 tonnes, while livestock farms reported a 1.1 percent growth in total output to 111,600 tonnes.
Ukraine's meat output reached 955,200 tonnes in the first quarter, up 3.4 percent on-year. The country produced 206,200 tonnes of meat in March, down 2.7 percent from February.
Ukraine's meat production was 2.76 million tonnes for the whole of 2007, up 8.4 percent from 2006.
