Ukraine's grain exports forecast to reach 7.8 million tonnes in 2007/2008

 

 

In 2007/08 MY Ukraine is seen to export about 7.8 million tonnes of grain, down 13 percent from the similar index of the previous season in 2007/2008, according to analyst Anastasia Ivasenko of IA "APK-Inform".

 

According to Ivasenko, the slash of production is expected in almost all kinds of crops due to decrease of offers but it cannot be the same for corn because of ethanol.

 

Ivasenko forecasted grains harvest at 33.3 million tonnes in Ukraine in 2007, down 2.7 percent from 2006.

 

Ending stocks are expected at 4 million tonnes in the current year (including export potential).
