Pakistan's seafood exports rise by 4.46%
 


During the first 10 months of the current fiscal year, Pakistan's exports of fish and seafood products increased by 4.46% over the corresponding period of last year.


The overall exports of fish and seafood products were recorded at US$270.301 million during July 2012-April 2013 against the exports of US$258.766 million during July 2011-April 2012, data shared by Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) suggests.


During the period under review, as much as 124,141 tonnes of fish and fish products were exported against 105,366 tonnes exported last year, showing increase of 17.82%.


It is worth noting that seafood exports increased by 5.22% in April 2013 when compared to the exports of April 2012. Fish exports during April 2013 stood at US$38.042 million against the exports of US$36.155 million in April 2012, PBS data revealed.


On a monthly basis, the exports of fish increased by 17.16%, going up from US$32.470 million in March 2013 to US$38.042 million in April 2013. The overall food exports from the country increased by 12.27% during the period under review, going up from US$3.521 billion last year to US$3.953 billion in current year.
