Norway seafood exports at record levels for 2011
Norway's seafood exports reaches NOK4 billion (US$665.3 million) for May 2012, an increase of 6%, compared with the same month last year, according to the Export Council for Fish.
So far this year, the value of Norwegian seafood exports has reached NOK22 billion (US$3.7 billion), an increase of 12%, compared with the same period last year.
There is still a high demand for Norwegian seafood in several markets worldwide. This year's growth comes mainly from increased export value of salmon and of herring and mackerel products, says Egil Ove Sundheim, marketing director for the Export Council.
There is also a considerable growth in the export of dried, salted cod (klippfisk).
