India confirms new bird flu case
                       


Indian veterinary authorities have reported one new case of highly pathogenic bird flu to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) on Wednesday (May 27).

 

It started in a backyard poultry flock at Hemtabad in West Bengal on 20 May, where all 20 affected birds died.

 

The presence of the H5N1 virus subtype has been confirmed.
