JBS beef plant in Rondonia state, Brazil closed because of COVID-19

The Rondonia labour court ordered the JBS beef plant located in the state to stop operations until all workers are tested for COVID-19, Reuters reported.

Court statements showed that Wadler Ferreira, the labour judge said the JBS plant is the source of the COVID-19 spread, adding that more than 60% of COVID-19 cases in the municipality is related to the company.

JBS did not provide any comments regarding the court verdict.

The company told Reuters that protecting its workers is the most important. In a statement, the company said it had implemented strict prevention protocols on all its meat production facilities since the start of the pandemic.
