VentureTECH backs Pacton Technologies' AI-powered aquaculture platform for ASEAN expansion

The investment will fund development of the FishSpeak platform, which uses AI and computer vision to address feed wastage, disease detection and farm data gaps across fish and shrimp operations.

Malaysian government-backed impact investor VentureTECH Sdn Bhd has made a strategic investment in Pacton Technologies Sdn Bhd to accelerate development and regional deployment of FishSpeak, an AI and IoT-based aquaculture management platform targeting fish and shrimp farms across ASEAN.

FishSpeak combines proprietary computer-vision models, AI advisory tools and selective IoT integration to deliver real-time farm intelligence. The platform has been deployed across more than 50 aquaculture sites in Malaysia through the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation's Digital AgTech Programme, with commercial engagement under way in Indonesia.

Pacton founder and managing director Faisal Shadli said the platform was developed to make AI accessible at the farm level, using computer vision and tools such as WhatsApp to support faster, data-driven decision-making. He said aquaculture operators face operational pressures including rising feed costs, disease outbreaks and limited access to reliable farm data. Pilot deployments have shown improvements in feed efficiency, farm visibility and early risk detection, the company said.

VentureTECH chief executive officer Azizan Jaafar said the investment reflects the firm's focus on high-growth, high-value sectors and its mandate to support Bumiputera-led technology companies. He said FishSpeak addresses productivity and sustainability challenges in aquaculture while supporting national food security and agri-tech development priorities.

The investment will fund AI capability advancement, scaling of commercial deployments, and expansion into Indonesia, Vietnam, Brunei and the Philippines.
