Buying interest improved of late but was not strong enough to strengthen methionine prices. A handful of traders negotiated prices in a bid to entice buyers.

Meanwhile, China imported 14,958 tonnes of methionine during April, down by 28% compared with March, but higher by 24% on-year.

Transacted price of locally-produced dl-methionine in China slid in the range of RMB19.10-20.50/kg.

Methionine hydroxy analogue prices were in the range of RMB15.60-17.50/kg.

Price quotes of methionine in Europe were at EUR2.70-2.85/kg.

Methionine prices are seen stable to lower amid slack demand, particularly from the poultry sector. However, sharp prices hikes are less likely as producers take turns to halt product for routine maintenance.
