Major Brazilian meatpackers approved for beef export to Thailand

Brazilian-based Minerva, Marfig Global Foods, JBs, as well as two other unlisted companies have been approved to export beef to Thailand, Reuters reported.

Brazil's Ministry of Agriculture announced that Thailand has approved beef imports on May 25. There was no indication of when the imports will begin.

Minerva said its biggest plant in Palmeiras de Goiás received approval. The plant has a 2,000 head daily slaughtering capacity.

Minerva added that Thailand is a major market for beef in Southeast Asia and another opportunity to further expand its export market.

Marfig said its plant in Ji-Paraná received approval for beef exports.

JBS, through an anonymous source, told Reuters that its Campo Grande facility received approval for beef exports to Thailand.

The two unlisted companies were Frialto and Masterboi.
