China's soy imports may rise to six million tonnes in May

Oil World, a German magazine, predicted that in May, China's soy imports will rise to six million tonnes from 5.3 million tonnes a year ago as demand rebounds following a slowdown due to bird flu.

Soy is a key component of animal feed. The publication said, "China's imports will grow dramatically in May and demand will continue to rise."

The magazine expects imports of soy to hit seven million tonnes in June, compared with 5.6 million tonnes last year.
