China's Guangdong Jan-Apr aquatic product, seafood exports grow 16.6 percent
China's Guangdong exported 47,000 tonnes of aquatic products and seafood in the first four months of 2009, an on-year hike of 16.6 percent, according to the Guangzhou customs.
The export volume in February, March, and April reached 10,000 tonnes, 12,000 tonnes and 14,000 tonnes respectively, growing 15.2 percent, 25.9 percent and 40.4 percent compared to the same period last year.
Meanwhile, the export of aquatic products and seafood from Guangdong to Hong Kong hit 27,000 tonnes in the first four months of this year, a year-on-year fall of 1.8 percent but it still accounted for 58.5 percent of the total export in Guangdong.
In addition, the export to Macao was 4,569 tonnes, inching up 0.3 percent while exports to the US and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) reached 8,244 tonnes and 1,593 tonnes, increasing 2.3 times and 1.5 times respectively.
