Analyst APK-Inform raises Ukraine's grain crop and export projection for 2022
Analyst APK-Inform raises Ukraine's grain crop and export projection for the 2022/23 season thanks to a better-than-expected winter harvest, Reuters reported.
Ukraine could harvest 48.3 million tonnes of grain in 2022, according to the consultancy, including about 17.1 million tonnes of wheat and 25.2 million tonnes of corn.
APK-Inform said, exports for the 2022/23 season might hit 39.4 million tonnes, up from 33.2 million tonnes previously projected.
Ukraine used to export the majority of its commodities via seaports, but since Russia's invasion on February 24, it has been forced to export via train or through its smaller Danube River ports.
Together, Russia and Ukraine produce about a third of the world's wheat.
