Marfig SA reports 25 COVID-19 cases at beef plant

 


The Brazilian meatpacker confirms 25 COVID-19 cases among its workers at a beef plant in Várzea Grande, Mato Grosso, Reuters reported.


The company said in a statement that all infected workers and those in contact with them have been put into quarantine. The plant has stayed operational.

 

The company added that one worker has died from COVID-19. The deceased is a woman based in the de-boning area and had been sent home since May 4.

 

Another worker from the same plant had died from respiratory disease. There is no confirmation that COVID-19 was the cause of death.

 

Marfig is the owner of United States' National Beef.
