Ukraine meat output down 11.7 percent on-year in Jan-Apr
                        


In the first four months of 2009, Ukraine produced 370,800 tonnes of meat, down 11.7 percent from 327,300 tonnes in the same period last year.

 

Fresh or chilled beef and veal production during January to April totalled 21,300 tonnes, down 41.6 percent on-year from 36,500 tonnes, according to the Ukrainian State Statistics Committee. April's production was 6,100 tonnes, down 700 tonnes from March.

 

Fresh or chilled pork production reached 29,200 tonnes during the period, down 41.4 percent from 29,200 tonnes in the same period last year. April production decreased 700 tonnes from March to 8,000 tonnes.

 

Fresh or chilled poultry meat and byproducts grew 5.7 percent to 193,500 tonnes from 182,300 tonnes last year. April production dropped 600 tonnes from March.

 

Sausage production during January to April declined 18.4 percent to 83,300 tonnes from 102,100 tonnes a year ago.
