100th ethanol production facility opens in the US
The 100th ethanol plant in the US opened Thursday ( May 25) in Gowrie, Iowa.
The plant, owned by Frontier Ethanol, would process 21 million bushels of corn into 60 million gallons of ethanol and 161,000 tonnes of Dakota Gold Enhanced Nutrition Distillers Products annually.
Frontier Ethanol is the 25th ethanol refinery in Iowa and is built by the Broin companies. The Broin Companies built one of the first successful ethanol production plants in America in the early 1980s, according to Jeff Broin, chief executive officer of the Broin Companies. He added that the completion of the Frontier Ethanol plant is a milestone for the ethanol industry and the company.
