Salmon imports to South Korea decline 24% in April
Fresh salmon imports to South Korea declined by 24% at 10,721 tonnes in April 2022 year-on-year, compared to the 14,088 tonnes imported in April 2021, Fish Information & Services reported.
The total imports were valued at US$116.85 million this year, 25% higher compared to the US$93.82 million in 2020.
The average unit price for fresh salmon costs US$10.9 per kg, 64% up compared to US$6.66 per kg in 2021.
10,499 tonnes of fresh salmon were imported from Norway, or 98% of the total imports that month. The remaining imports come from Australia (199 tonnes), the UK (14 tonnes), New Zealand (6 tonnes) and Chile (3 tonnes).
The unit price was US$10.89 per kg in Norway, US$10.56 per kg in Australia, and US$17.86/kg in the UK.
