US$427 million French aid programme to support fish farms given go-ahead

The European Commission has approved a €400 million (US$427 million) French aid programme to support farms and fish farms in the context of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The aid under the programme will be delivered in the form of direct subsidies and is intended to cover part of the increase in feed costs for farms and fish farms in France.

The European Commission considered that the French scheme complied with the conditions set out in the temporary crisis framework.

In particular, the aid will not exceed €35,000 (US$37,355) per beneficiary and will be granted until December 31, 2022 at the latest.
