China Fishmeal: Port inventory expands amid stable prices (week ended May 24, 2021)

CNF prices of Peruvian prime-grade fishmeal were at US$1,720/tonne. Pre-sales price quotes remained at US$1,680/tonne.
During Mar 3-May 19, Peru's fish catch in the southern seas totalled 138,230 tonnes, which was 46% of the 409,00 tonnes quota for the season (ends on Jun 30).
Between Apr 23 and May 19, Peru's fishing in the central and northern seas totalled 1,164,001 tonnes, which was 46% of the 2.51 million tonnes quota for the season.
Traders held prices of fishmeal stable while the costs of Peruvian products staying high. With demand slow, ports inventories climbed to 242,700 tonnes.
For FAQ fishmeal products, price quotes were at RMB10,100/tonne.
Expanding demand from the aquaculture sector will lend some support to the fishmeal market. Nonetheless, overall sales will be limited with feed producers treading prudently.
