Vietnam's January-April seafood exports up 12.8%
In the first four months of 2012, Vietnam earned US$1.79 billion from seafood export, representing an on-year increase of 12.8%, the Ministry of Finance's General Department of Customs.
In April, the country earned US$505 million, down 4.7% from March, the agency said.
EU was the biggest importer of Vietnamese seafood, purchasing US$357 million during January-April, down 10.6% on year, followed by the US with US$338 million, up 19.2%.
Exports of Vietnamese seafood to Japan and South Korea increased 33.7% and 21.5% on year to US$311 million and US$148 million, respectively.
Vietnam eyes to earn US$6.6 billion from seafood export this year compared to US$6.323 billion last year.
