UK milk sales rise in 2004 for the first time in three decades

Milk demand in Britain rose for the first time in more than three decades during the last year due to new consumption trends in the country.

Researchers found that porridge sales jumped 25 percent this winter, while hot drinks like tea and coffee increased about 17 percent and 8 percent respectively.

The Milk Development Council market development director Liz Broadbent said that the increase was because people were buying milk more frequently rather than more during each shopping trip.
