Nepal confirms first ASF cases

 
 

Nepal reported on May 18 its first cases of African swine fever (ASF) to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).

 

There have been six outbreaks in the countru so far, affecting a total of 1,426 susceptible animals on farms located in Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur.

 

The first outbreak is reported to have started on March 30, 2022, with the suspected mode of transmission having been swill feeding.
