High Liner Foods to expand operation in Virginia


High Liner Foods, a US seafood processor and marketer, will expand its operation in Newport News, Virginia, Governor Bob McDonnell announced on May21.


High Liner Foods currently employs more than 400 people in Newport News and will add 57 more jobs, McDonnell said in a statement.


Keith Decker, president and chief operating officer of High Liner, said in a statement, "Our production and distribution facilities in Newport News are the hub of High Liner Foods' US food service operation. This investment will further strengthen High Liner's ability to deliver innovative products to our customers when they need it."


The Virginia state will provide a US$250,000 grant from the Governor's Opportunity Fund for the expansion, according to a news release from McDonnell's office.
