Carmistin The Food Company inaugurates poultry meat facility in Romania

Following an investment of about 80 million euros (US$90.63 million), Carmistin The Food Company has inaugurated in Frâncești, jud. Vâlcea, the most complex poultry production facility in Romania and one of the largest in the European Union.

With this project, developed on six hectares of land and with a total built area of 25,000 square meters, the Carmistin Group becomes the most efficient poultry producer in Romania, with a production capacity of 120,000 tonnes of meat/year.

Representing a landmark of innovation, architecture and design in the food industry, the new factory has been designed to meet the highest technological and operational standards and meet the demanding requirements of today's modern trade.

The equipment, most of which is powered by artificial intelligence, has been chosen for increased efficiency, food safety and process optimisation. For example, the recently launched ATLAS on-farm poultry transportation system is considered the world's best in animal welfare – a particularly important aspect for Carmistin The Food Company and its flagship brand, La Provincia.

The Impaq software generates information about how the primary processing side is working and makes it possible to analyse equipment efficiency in real time and reduce downtime. The Iris system, in turn, automatically selects carcasses by quality class, helping to optimise production and detect causes of downgrading, while a set of 5 calibration robots integrated into the flow makes it possible to optimise weights by product type.

From the new production unit, the company already supplies products under the La Provincia brand for the domestic market, as well as products for export to over 30 countries, ranging from fresh meat to a multitude of sliced cuts, tailored to the needs and preferences of consumers everywhere.

The Frâncești project was conceived and built on the fully integrated food chain model, promoted by the Carmistin Group two decades ago and which, in harmony with global trends, today translates into innovation, freshness and a responsible and sustainable way of production and farming. Thus, the company has simultaneously strengthened its entire value chain, from the production of agricultural inputs (cereals, seeds, fodder) and hatcheries, to breeding and rearing farms, processing, packaging, logistics, distribution and its own retail, developing its own network of stores nationwide.

In addition to increasing production capacity, the new factory is also generating a strong socio-economic impact in the area, currently operating with a team of almost 1,000 people, including 600 new employees, following an intensive recruitment process carried out over the past months.

The execution of the Frâncești project between 2022 and 2025 was carried out by an internal team of around 10 people, supported by dozens of specialists and external collaborators from all over the world.

"Such an investment is proof that innovation and cutting-edge technology can be perfectly harmonised with the responsible development of a large-scale local business. With the project in Frâncești, we will redefine not only the standards in local food production, but also the way the food industry is perceived. For us, the Carmistin The Food Company team, and especially for the extraordinary people who contributed to its realisation, this jewel-project has been and will always remain a unique experience – human, professional and life experience. I thank all my colleagues for understanding that at the centre of everything we do is the constant concern to ensure the highest standards of quality, reliability and safety of food in the marketplace." says Justin Paraschiv, founder and president Carmistin The Food Company.
