Arla possesses 50% of milk market shares in Southern Finland
The market shares of basic milk in Southern Finland has been examined by Nielsen's HomeScan and found out that Arla Ingman was the market leader with 50% shares.
Valio's market share has fallen to 30% in Southern Finland, compared to 42% nationwide. The combined market share of other dairies was 20%.
Retail chain Kesko's private label Pirkka milk has raised its market share to an estimated 7%.
Sales of Valio's basic milk have fallen by almost one third in a short while. In addition, the packing of German retail chain Lidl's milk is no longer carried out by Valio as of the beginning of 2012.
