Argentina's 2006/07 corn sales at 13.5 million tonnes
As of May 18, Argentina had sold 13.5 million tonnes of 2006/07 (March-February) corn for export, up from 11.685 million tonnes a week earlier, the Agriculture Secretariat said Friday.
Last week, the Agriculture Secretariat announced the reopening of the corn export registry for 3 million tonnes. The quota was filled by Wednesday, according to the Secretariat.
In November, the government froze the export registry in the face of soaring export declarations.
By this time last year Argentina had sold 4.665 million tonnes of 2005/06 corn.
Each figure represents thousands of tonnes sold.
