Brazil's beef exports for April rise 32 percent
Brazil's beef exports totalled US$ 249.2 million in April, an increase of 31.85 percent versus the same period last year. 192,460 tonnes of beef were shipped out, compared with 146,460 tons in April 2004, an increase by 31.4 percent.
Total export sales from January to April stand at US$862.3 million, an increase of 25 percent compared with the first four months last year. The volume shipped during this period saw an increase of 27 percent.
For the first four months of the year, Egypt led in Brazilian beef imports with US$ 74.64 million, or 71,670 tonnes. Also in the top 15 markets were Algeria and Saudi Arabia. For the month of April Russia, the United Kingdom, Egypt and the Netherlands were the main markets.
