UK rapeseed exports drop by 28.6% in 2012-13

From July 2012 to March 2013, UK's overall rapeseed exports fell to 572,543 tonnes, down 28.6% compared to 802,307 tonnes during the same period in 2011-12.

According to Customs data, all of UK's rapeseed exports were within the EU. UK's top three export destinations during July 2012-March 2013 were Germany (182,656 tonnes), The Netherlands (171,379 tonnes) and Belgium-Luxembourg (127,978 tonnes).

UK's total rapeseed exports reached a record 1.03 million tonnes in 2011-12, more than doubling the 435,311 tonnes exported in 2010-11. The country's rapeseed crop is expected to fall sharply this year to 1.8-1.9 million tonnes due to severe crop deterioration caused by detrimental weather and pests. UK took in 2.56 million tonnes of rapeseed in 2012.
