US beef exports increase
Beef export sales released on Thursday (May 19) amounted 17,400 tonnes, an increment of 4.5% over last week's sales.
Beef exports are 144 tonnes above the average for the year, but still less than half of this year's highest point.
Net sales of beef for delivery have been primarily to Japan (6,500 tonnes), Mexico (2,700 tonnes), Canada (2,100 tonnes), South Korea (1,700 tonnes), and Taiwan (1,400 tonnes). Exports of 15,900 tonnes were mainly to Japan (3,000 tonnes), South Korea (2,700 tonnes), Mexico (2,500 tonnes), Canada (2,400 tonnes), and Russia (2,100 tonnes).
Exports sales have remained steady over the past four weeks, remaining between 16,000 and 18,000 tonnes. Export shipments improved by almost 2,000 tonnes.
