Danish Crown cuts pork processing capacity by 30 percent

Danish Crown has reduced its slaughterhouse capacity by a total of 30 percent due to low supply of finishers.

The company cuts 10 percent of processing capacity last week and would be cutting another 20 percent next week.

Danish Crown said it is a temporary measure and that it expects supplies to grow again in the near future.

The re-adjustment reflects the shrinking Danish pig production, as total Danish pig herd had decreased by about 10 percent from last year.
